Baby Girl

Here are some of the latest of Violet. The first two show her off in her bonnet from Auntie Lolly and outfit from Auntie Meghan. Thank you dear Aunties!

I know this one is blurry, but it is a sweet face.

Snuggling with Daddy before church.

She is holding here head up for quite a long time. She is a strong little one.

We go to the doctor again on Thursday. We are hoping she has gained several more ounces. We think she is starting to put on some weight (i.e. getting little rings around her wrists, fuller little face). We love every little ounce of her.

She is a pretty good sleeper. She occasionally has nights where it seems like she thinks it is daytime and refuses to go back to sleep after feeding despite the amount of coaxing I do in dim light and lullaby mode. We still enjoy those times. She has slept in her crib since we brought her home. I admit I have slept with her on the couch for a few hours in the early morning when she just seems to want to lay on me and I give in to her snuggles.

My mom has been a great help in the evening and mornings, well, all day really. Setting a schedule next week will be difficult after she has gone. We have already been in a nice groove these last 4 weeks. I am looking forward to trying it out without aid...see how it goes.

Here is Vi on the changing table giving a shout out to her Aunties!

Baby Shower at Bible Study

The ladies in my Tuesday Bible Study held a baby shower for Vi and me last Tuesday. It was a special time and these ladies made it sweet with the decorations and details.

Here are a few pictures of the time.

What a blessing!

Putting on Sunday Best and a Much Awaited Visitor

Sunday morning Mom and I dolled up Violet in a big bonnet and sweet smocked dress that I had worn when I was a baby. She was pretty much the most adorable thing ever! She had a wonderful time at church but by the time we made it home and wanted to take some pictures she had had enough of the bonnet and tights, as you can see here...

She made it quite clear she wanted a diaper change and a sleeper on ASAP!

Sunday afternoon my friend Amaya was finally able to make a visit to meet Violet. Amaya hosted the baby shower that was given for Vi the day before she was born. She had a cold that persisted for the past few weeks and had family in town which delayed her visit. She was itching to meet Vi and finally held her yesterday. She stayed for a couple of hours chatting and holding Vi. Thank you for your visit Amaya. We loved seeing you.

We look forward to many more special visitors in the upcoming months!

Vi Update

We went back to the doctor and Vi has regained the weight she lost to bring her back to her birth weight of 5 pounds 12 ounces. We are thankful for that and hope to continue with the fast weight gain.

She is so much fun. She loves to look around and has learned to keep a gaze on something for several seconds. She seems to recognize my voice and is learning her Daddy's voice as well.

Nights are going okay. Some nights she sleeps too long and I have to wake her up to feed her and then other nights I am rocking her until the next feeding. We are working on tiring her out before the final feeding hoping to get at least one nice patch of sleep in the evening.

My Mom and Dad got a rocking chair for the nursery on Monday. It was a wonderful surprise and it fits just perfect in the room. The room is tight the the chair is medium sized, just right for me and the room. Thank you so much. It has already come in handy through this week.

First bath with the bath seat was the other day. She is getting used to it. She is so tiny in the seat.

Well, enough jibber jabber. I will post some new pictures. :)

Figuring out if she likes it or not...

Week with Poppa

My Dad arrived on Saturday and this week has been filled with baby holding and tickling. Dad found a little place on Violet's neck that seems to get a little smile half the time he tries.

You can tell he wasn't enjoying holding her...

It has been a great week with him here.

(Sorry, I don't know how to turn it around. Anyone know how?)

Today is Daniel's birthday!

He is all of 29 today. I am so thankful for him. Thank you Mom and Dad for raising him and loving him like you have. I thank the Lord for bringing him into my life. May the Lord bless him with many more years!

He had yesterday off of work/school and we went up to some outlets to search for a watch. He has a sporty watch with all the gadgets and timers on it but no "dressy" watch so we planned on that being the birthday gift this year. We found a great one and of course a good price. I think he is happy with it.

Thank you for the sweet cards and well wishes. He is probably reading them through out the day.

Happy Birthday Sweet Husband and Baby Daddy!

baby hiccups

There might be something cuter, yes, 2 somethings more cuter than this. Perhaps if a little helium-filled soap bubble came out of her mouth after each one and floated up to the ceiling. Also if our kitties pretended Violet was their baby and would lick her head to clean her.

Joke # 317

What is worse than finding a worm in your apple?

(hopefully we'll get some good guesses. I'll post the answer after a few...ahhh)

Yo

Esau

Not sure who this stranger is, but he looks kinda like Esau. And how did he get my wedding ring? Hmm...interesting. Good thing he was gentle...

Room to Grow

She is bundled up with her legs up against her chest in this one. She is pretty long for her skinny frame but here she looks even smaller. We are working on fattening her up every day, no worries. :>

She is an absolute doll. We are still in awe that she is ours. As Daniel says, we are waiting for her real parents to come take her home. It feels like we are just babysitting. Quite surreal still.

I don't know how this one got in there. No more trips to the zoo...

Our Little Sunbather

Violet does not have jaundice but she had a light yellow color to her skin. The doctor and nurses recommended putting her in the sun for a few minutes on each side to help break down the bilirubin in her blood that causes jaundice.

She loved the warm sun time and of course we took pictures.

Hooray for Home

Hip Hip Hooray!

Even the kitties are interested in the homecoming.

Daddy's Girl

Loving on our burrito baby...
Snuggling before we leave the hospital...
Finally home and resting...

Home again, home again, jiggety jig. We are on the way home!

Moving On

It appears babies keep being born. We are being politely asked to leave our room this morning.

We spent one last night here in the local hospital due to Baby Vi taking her time with breastfeeding. I (Maryn this time) was discharged yesterday morning by my OB. We were able to stay as borders. I was not checked by nurses anymore but we could still stay in the room with Vi.

I am doing great. It is incredible how my body took to the pain and medication. I can only praise the Lord for the quick recovery and only minor discomfort now. I just had a baby! HA! Praise the Lord.

All in all I have not been outside since Monday afternoon and I am looking forward to taking our baby home. She is such a precious little bean!

I will write more later but for now we will be hanging out in the lobby to find out when Violet can leave with us.

Thank you for the sweet words and prayers throughout our past few days and months. The day came early and it is still surreal but God has prepared us in ways we don't even know yet.

Much Love
