Power Off

The storm this past Friday night knocked our power out until Sunday morning. We were like the other million people without power, constantly seeking out ways to stay cool and power our electronic devices. :) Thankfully our neighborhood was chosen as one to repair and we returned to our less sweaty state. In the meantime we took some cute pics of the girls.

Sunday morning Violet was a sweaty mess when she woke up and we had to take a shot of both girls in only diaper cover clothing.

Outside breakfast with Louisa. We had one big tree that had some very large branches come down in our backyard but nothing damaging the house or property. Thank the Lord our landlords had several big old trees cut down before we moved in. The five removed were very close to the house. I am sure they would have fallen right on us during that storm.

Playtime with Louisa. The pants are on only because her knees are getting raw from all of her crawling around on the carpet.

And now she has started pulling herself up. Wow! She is a fast mover. Note all the pillows around her for when she does lose her grip of the couch.

Vi woke up wanting to wear her new dress from Poppa. She likes it because it matches her toenails. Yep, you got that right, purple toenails. It is her signature color.

Have a great Fourth of July! Hopefully the weather holds off around here for fireworks. Last time I checked another day of storms was set for Wednesday.

Summer TIme!

Well, we were spending a large amount of time outdoors but the last few days this Momma hen and baby chicks have been staying inside. We are all too fair and it is very hot for us to spend large amounts of time outside. These photos are all before this most recent heat wave.

Vi getting her sandbox time in with a sweet boy from church.

We celebrated our 7th anniversary earlier this month and we had a lovely dinner followed by walking around Old Town Alexandria. It was quite a treat.

The girls enjoyed our anniversary too. We were able to trade babysitting with another couple. We get their sweet doll tomorrow. :) Here they are hanging with the Daddy.

Daddy and girls getting ready to go to the pool to celebrate Father's Day with friends.

Louisa is beginning to crawl. She makes her way around a room whether she is crawling correctly or not. Little love bug!

Commissary trip with the family. This double seating scenario at this point in time can only be achieved when Mommy has extra help from Daddy. There is no way I am shopping alone with these two girls behind the wheel.

Snuggles with Daddy are a regular evening enjoyment.

Heat wave or not, we are thankful for our nice home with air conditioning. We are thankful for wide-brim sunhats and sunglasses and we are thankful for sunscreen. The Lord has blessed us richly.

Grandma Comes to Visit

Marsha came in March for a visit.  We had a wonderful time playing at home with the girls and exploring some of DC too. We made it to the Natural History Museum, parts of the American History Museum and saw the Washington Monument up close. All three were a first for Mom.We even made it to the Marine Corps Museum. Very worth a visit! We went for a quick weekend trip to Virginia Beach as well to see the rest of the family. It was great weather and we enjoyed every moment of the visit.

Lulu at Four Months

Blurry but adorable

Getting ready to suck in her bottom lip.

She loves her pacifier and we do too. It is hollow in the center so we can see her little tongue sucking. It looks like one of those fish that sucks on the side of the fish tank. :)

When she doesn't have the paci she has her baby paws in her mouth.

She loves her play mat and spends several minutes on there a day figuring out how to get her monkey rattle to let go of the mat and come to her.

She still bats her arms around uncontrollably in adorable ways like she is going to whack something hard yet she has no aim. Pretty cute.

She loves to blow bubbles with her spit. She will have such a serious face and then all of a sudden blow her lips together really hard and open her mouth with a joyful smile on. We love it! (She just started doing it again.)

She is very ticklish, but almost can't stand to be tickled.

We took her to nursery at church for the first time today and they said she was a very chill baby. Good to know she is like that for other people too. She is a very content baby. She has her moments in the evening mostly, but generally she is happy just hanging out in the bumbo or playing in her rocker.

Sweet Baby Lulu. We are so thankful for you!
