Doctor's Visit and Visitors!

Violet had her two month well baby check-up on Thursday. She now weighs a whoppin' 9.6 pounds. We are still working on that, but it has put her in the 50th percentile for her weight and height and we will take that any day. She is in the 75th percentile for her head size. That's our baby with the big head. Big head = big brain, right?
:)

Things are going wonderful for her and the doctor is happy with her growth and overall health. She did receive 4 vaccinations on Thursday and that made for a sad little baby. Thankfully, she did not have a fever or any other symptoms that evening. She is a healthy little one. We have been so blessed to have her be so healthy. With a newborn in flu season, every mother wonders what the first few months will look like. Tomorrow she turns 11 weeks and God has been good to us in protecting her from any colds or viruses. God has been just plain good to us overall! We are very blessed!

We are expecting Grandma and Grandpa Good to arrive this week for the holidays. We are excited to share Vi Pie with them. This will be the first time for them to meet her, and there couldn't be a better time. She is so interactive, alert and personable. We are loving the time with her ourselves.

Daniel's brother and family arrive this next weekend so we are looking forward to a wonderful holiday with family.

Violet is excited to meet her extended family!

Christmas Outfit

We received a package in the mail this week from a dear family friend. She had given us two adorable little outfits for Vi, one being a Baby's 1st Christmas outfit. Well, it had a matching headband for Vi so the camera had to come out. I just love the little headbands with the bow on top. It looks so cute on baby girls' heads with very little hair. Adorable!

I uploaded more pictures on Flickr. You can see them by clicking on my photostream on the right side of the blog. I got a little carried away and uploaded a ton. I know the grandparents will be happy though. They can see the many faces of Vi Pie.

NPS Grand Winter Ball

Daniel's school had a fundraiser ball on Saturday evening that we were able to attend. It was a super fancy event and we had a great evening. Violet was being taken care of by my Bible study leader and her husband. They cuddled with her all evening...no deprivation there.

We enjoyed our night out together but when we were heading home it was amazing the longing to hold Violet that overwhelmed me. It is truly a blessing that God has given her to us and put such a love in our hearts for her. Let's just say it was good to hold her again.

Vi's Photo Shoot

When Kris and Lauren visited a few weeks ago we took a couple hours to do a little photo shoot. With Kris and Lol's expertise and equipment, the photos turned out absolutely lovely. It helped that they loved the little subject. :)

Here are a few pictures for a taste of the beautiful work they do.

We absolutely love how they turned out.
Thank you Kris and Lolly! We love you!

Auntie and Uncle Visit

Lauren and Kris arrived on Friday evening. They have been driving up the California coast for a vacation and ended their trip here with us to see sweet Violet.
We spent most of our time home with Violet, but one day we ventured out to the seashore. Beautiful day!

W also did a little photo shoot with Vi Pie because Kris and Lolly are amazing photographers. We had to take advantage of their equipment and their willingness to snap photos of Violet. I will post some soon.

We loved having you here!

Marine Corps Ball

That's right, we ventured out for a night. We left Violet with some friends from church and attended the ball. It was held in a beautiful hotel and the evening was great. They had bagpipers calling us into the ceremony and ending the ceremony with music as well. I love bagpipes, as does all my family, so I loved it.

We sat next to the dear Reynolds family for the ceremony and dinner so of course that meant photo-op.

Jo and Jeremy were across the room, but we got a pic with them as well.

Happy 234th Birthday Marines!

Biggest Gainer!

Violet gained 1 lb 2 ounces this past week. Praise the LORD! We were getting concerned with her slow weight gain, but God has eased our concerns this week with a huge gain. He is so gracious!

She weighs 7 pounds 4 ounces. Woohoo!

Here She Is...

Soothing Colors

I thought the blog needed a new look. The green was a little too electric.

Unpacking pre-maternity clothing today...hmm a little discouraging, yet exciting to see the clothes I haven't worn since around April.

I will post more of Violet later. We are constantly busy trying to fatten her up. The weight gain at the last doctors's appointment was not as high as we wanted so we have been busy eating. It is more like the Biggest Gainer reality show around here. :)

She is sleeping right now. She fills her time with eating, sleeping and sitting in her bouncy chair which she enjoys time in everyday. Simple, sweet life. She is a dear little companion.

Love Ya'll!

Baby Girl

Here are some of the latest of Violet. The first two show her off in her bonnet from Auntie Lolly and outfit from Auntie Meghan. Thank you dear Aunties!

I know this one is blurry, but it is a sweet face.

Snuggling with Daddy before church.

She is holding here head up for quite a long time. She is a strong little one.

We go to the doctor again on Thursday. We are hoping she has gained several more ounces. We think she is starting to put on some weight (i.e. getting little rings around her wrists, fuller little face). We love every little ounce of her.

She is a pretty good sleeper. She occasionally has nights where it seems like she thinks it is daytime and refuses to go back to sleep after feeding despite the amount of coaxing I do in dim light and lullaby mode. We still enjoy those times. She has slept in her crib since we brought her home. I admit I have slept with her on the couch for a few hours in the early morning when she just seems to want to lay on me and I give in to her snuggles.

My mom has been a great help in the evening and mornings, well, all day really. Setting a schedule next week will be difficult after she has gone. We have already been in a nice groove these last 4 weeks. I am looking forward to trying it out without aid...see how it goes.

Here is Vi on the changing table giving a shout out to her Aunties!

Baby Shower at Bible Study

The ladies in my Tuesday Bible Study held a baby shower for Vi and me last Tuesday. It was a special time and these ladies made it sweet with the decorations and details.

Here are a few pictures of the time.

What a blessing!

Putting on Sunday Best and a Much Awaited Visitor

Sunday morning Mom and I dolled up Violet in a big bonnet and sweet smocked dress that I had worn when I was a baby. She was pretty much the most adorable thing ever! She had a wonderful time at church but by the time we made it home and wanted to take some pictures she had had enough of the bonnet and tights, as you can see here...

She made it quite clear she wanted a diaper change and a sleeper on ASAP!

Sunday afternoon my friend Amaya was finally able to make a visit to meet Violet. Amaya hosted the baby shower that was given for Vi the day before she was born. She had a cold that persisted for the past few weeks and had family in town which delayed her visit. She was itching to meet Vi and finally held her yesterday. She stayed for a couple of hours chatting and holding Vi. Thank you for your visit Amaya. We loved seeing you.

We look forward to many more special visitors in the upcoming months!
